A Journey of A Thousand Miles Begins with a Single Scarf

On November 14th - 16th, 2008, a circle of women joined together at Flourish Studios in Chicago, IL, in a Birthing From Within doula and mentor workshop to honor the journey and spirit of birth. A strong bond was created between us over the course of the weekend. It seemed hard to go our separate ways after the journey we had been on together. Many of the women were drawn to a particular scarf hanging in the store, but no one wanted to invest all the money in it. On the last day, we discovered we had all been coveting it and decided to chip in and buy it. We each spent $4 on the scarf. The plan is for the scarf to spend one month with each woman. She is to wear it to her births she assists with or childbirth classes she teaches and then pass it on to the next woman, in this way we can stay connected. The scarf is beginning its journey with Danit in Israel.
